Radio Glendon Launch!

October 22nd marked Radio Glendon's (Glendon's small but stellar radio station) official launch for a new year of great music! Thanks to the wonderful people at Lunik Cafe (Please read my fellow eAmbassadors', Esther and Juan, reviews on what I think is the best spot on campus) who graciously let us use their space, the launch was fit with a bar (Filled with a couple of hundred dollars worth of alcohol...), a stage, and even a dance floor.

Michael Wexler (Inlet Sound) rocking the launch party
The night really got going around 7pm when the first two live acts, The Family and Pamela Sarmiento, of the night took the stage. Jazz piano student Daniel Boltyansky thrilled the crowd with his take of the Lion King's "Hakuna Matata" and Elton John's "Tiny Dancer." (He was even being cheered on for an encore where he showed off his jazz skills.) Michael Wexler, lead singer of the Hamilton based band Inlet Sound, wrapped up the live performances with fantastic original and cover songs. (Go see Inlet Sound at the Horseshoe Tavern in Toronto on November 1st!) Canadian rock/hip-hop band Hello Beautiful were also around for an on-air interview which should be replayed sometime soon. Our two, if it's fair enough for me to say, campus djs, Marco and Jayson, helped take the party into the wee hours of the morning.

Along with the free drinks, (yes, free) and the great music, contests were happening throughout the night including, who could make the best Radio Glendon t-shirt? and a raffle with a grand prize of a tv! (Awesome, I know.)

A huge thanks goes out to Lunik Cafe and everybody at Radio Glendon for making such a great night possible and everybody who came out and supported Glendon's radio station. As part of the Radio Glendon team, our hope was to introduce the faces of Radio Glendon and let everybody know, after some troubles last year...., our radio station was very much back up and running and it's safe to say we were able to accomplish that.

An awesome Tweet about the night:
"@SarahLPB: Cool venue, great acoustic music, free PBR and all on campus. Glendon, this is what I've been waiting for since 2009. #finally"

Now, don't you wish you went? And to those who did, thanks again.
